ddhelp error

By drewb ·
I keep getting a ddhelp error whenever I run Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both of these programs and then updated my Direct X as microsoft states to do but this didn't seem to work. Any advice???

Your problem is with direct draw. Are you now using DirectX 6.1 ? use the DirectX Diag program to try to identify the problem specifically, also, check for any updated drivers for your graphics card as this may resolve the problem for you.
Another posible solution would be to upgrade to IE 5.0 if you are not already using it, with multimedia enhancements support.

I just dealt with the same problem 2 or 3 days ago. The situation was that the client had upgraded to DirectX 7.0 and started getting the ddhelp errors. All I was able to do was to uninstall DirectX 7.0 and re-install DirectX 6.1. There might be another way around it, but I don't know it yet.
