I would go with Avast. We've been using it here for a number of years now. It's lightweight, easy to use, and it's boot scan rocks! We use the free version here at home, for a home user, that's all a person really needs. Add malewarebytes, spybot search and destroy, and ccleaner and ya should be good to go.

If you are going for a paid version than Symantec/Norton is the best.
