Desktop Security

By AdriaMusick_zzz ·
I need to apply desktop security in our Win 2000 server/client network. I want to hide, for example, My network places, run command, My Computer, etc. It seems to work on the server, but does not carry through to the clients desktop when they log on. What am I doing wrong?

Start here and work through the other registry hacks at the bottom of the link:

The above is for individual workstations and securing the desktop at the client workstations instead of via the server.

AS LONG AS YOUR RUNNING AD ON THE SERVER YOU CAN CREATE GROUP POLICIES. IF YOU OPEN AD FOR USER AND GROUPS. CREATE A NEW OU AND MOVE ALL THE USERS INTO THAT GROUP THAT YOU WANT TO RESTRICT. THEN RIGHT CLICK ON THE GROUP AND GOTO PROTERIES. THEN CLICK ON GROUP POLICY. CLICK ON NEW AND NAME AND THEN EDIT. GOTO USER CONFIG AND THE AREA YOU WANT IS ADMINISTIVE CONFIG. BUT YOU SHOULD BROWSE THOUGH ALL THE POLICYS WHEN YOU DOUBLE CLICK ON THE POLICY ON OF THE TABS THAT APPIER IS DISCRIPTION. WHEN YOUARE DONE YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THE DNS ON ALL THE COMPUTERS POINT ON TO THE PDC.
