Device Manager

Hi I am using a dell dimension with xp networked with
the same. When i try to install the software for the printer
it stalls. so i simply use the usb. when i look in device
manager and tried to located in the list for imaging
devices, it missing. I think this is why the installatiion is
not working. How can i get back " imaging devices in the
device manager back. The other dell has image devices.
any advice would be appreciated. D

Is the printer that you are installing

connected to the PC. If it is go to the manufacturers site and download the latest drivers. DO NOT Connect the Printer to the PC. Install the drivers and connect the printer when you are instructed to. It wont show up in Device Manager until it is installed.

Yes the hp printer is new . i try the manufactures driver but
it still did not show up in imaging devices just in the usb. i
will try again , after i reinstall windows. the reason is i am
having a problem with starting up windows. It get stuck at
the dell page and requires me to use the function keys f2 or
f12 for it to finish and to end up at the desktop. Do you
have a suggestion for this boot problem?

press F2 to enter the BIOS and save the settings when you exit. It could also be a failing CMOS battery replace it.
