Devicehigh & Drivespace in Config.sys

By twuf ·
I have a Win98 computer with has an entry in Config.sys, Devicehigh=c:\windows\command\drvspace.sys /move.
I have never used DriveSpace on this computer except possibly compressing a floppy disk once. Doing so, did DriveSpace put this entry in Config.sys? and what does the /move switch mean? I know it is loading it into high memory.

The move command is what tells drivespace to load in high memory.

The devicehigh part is what loads it into high memory. the move thing is explained below. but i can't really figure out what it means (sorry).
yes, during installation, drvspace puts that exact command into config.sys. there is a microsoft knowlegebase article about it: 95816
Here is an excerpt:
DBLSPACE.SYS (aka DRVSPACE.EXE) /MOVE does not load a device driver for DoubleSpace (aka DriveSpace). Instead, it moves the DoubleSpace (DriveSpace) component (DBLSPACE.BIN) into memory.
If you canboot into Safe Mode and read your hard disk ok, you should be safe in taking it out. but if it ain't broke, i'd say don't fix it...
