DHCP on my 2520 router does not work

By whickey15 ·
When trying to configure dhcp on either of my two 2520 routers I am given an error. No matter what command im giving once the router see's "dhcp" I get an error. So I typed
(config)#ip dhcp ?
and instead of a list of possible commands that I should be getting, I am prompted with one line saying "hostname or ABCD ..etc"

Does andyone know why this is happening?

Restore the Cisco IOS to a router

by whickey15 In reply to Do you have

I do not have an ios to install. I do have a friends router that is the same version (2520), his has dhcp. I want to copy his ios to my pc.

So, I followed all of the steps here:

..and am successful up until the copy portion.

- I can ping my router
-my router can ping my pc
-here is my show flash:

r1>show flash

System flash directory:
File Length Name/status
1 7245112 c2500-is-l.113-11a.T1.bin
[7245176 bytes used, 9532040 available, 16777216 total]
16384K bytes of processor board System flash (Read ONLY)

Here is the error that I get:

r1#copy c2500-is-l.113-11a.T1.bin tftp://
% Invalid device name:: No trailing colon in c2500-is-l.113-11a.T1.bin

by whickey15 In reply to Version 11.3 (11)

When I goto the site (where I am registered)and click download or add to cart, im redirected to a page explaining "valid Technical Support Services Agreement"

No prompt as to why I cant download or what steps to take, just a back button. Im assuming that I need some type of license.
