Dial into Terminal Server from home

By bfeltus ·
I set up a windows 2000 server with terminal services in remote mode. I want to be able to administer this server from home. Please give step by step instructions on how to dial in from home. The server has a 56k modem. The internet nor a vpn will not be used. Thank you.

I think Terminal Services will only work over network, Lan or Internet for example.

RRAS is used for straight modem to modem direct dial and is what you should use

Simple, setup RRAS on the server with yourself having the proper rights to log in (I take it you are the admin) and install the terminal services client on your machines. Once you log in via Dialup type in the server's ip address in your terminal services client (you can find it one the server cd in the tools folder) and connect. you shouldn't have any problems. Only difficult part is really setting up RRAS.
