Disabling Spelling in Word 2000

By Adisha ·
Is it possible to disable spelling completely in Word 2000. I need to do this as one of the examination requirements for some of our candidates in the College where I work. I have already removed the spelling button - is it possible to diasable the F7 key function?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks for your help in advance

Not sure exactly what you mean...you can uninstall the spelling feature from word using the installer and selecting custom install...

This is OK as long as other users don't want to use the machine - however we have a situation where I want the setting to affect a particular user. Uninstalling spelling will cause problems for other users.

Try going to Tools/Options/Spelling and Grammar. Uncheck all of the boxes that would need to be. You can also try to click on the Dictionaries button and try deleting the Custom.dic .. if it does not have a dictionary - it can not check anything.

Good Luck
