Disaster Recovery issues with Win2k

By mlefe2002 ·
I have attempted to restore Windows 2000 using different hardware than the original server. Upon successful restore of Active Directory and the system state, I cannot configure TCPIP on my multi-homed server. I get an error that I must first enable the adapters and install TCPIP, which were already installed and enabled. When I try to remove the adapters, upon restart they show up as "local area connection 3 & 4". Am I missing something or is disaster recovery not an option for Win2k on different hardware?

Disaster Recovery issues with Win2k

Greetings,

You should read Microsoft's "Windows 2000 Server Disaster Recovery Guidelines"

(REMOVE SPACES from the following pasted link if they appear.):

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/administration/fileandprint/recovery.asp

On that page, there are links to download files that outline all the disaster recovery considerations. (On the right side of the page)

Good luck,

Maxwell

I encourage anyone responsible for disaster recover in their company, to attempt to restore a server to a different machine, with different hardware, NICS, etc.
