Display Problems
LockedI have a Dell Dimension desktop PC that is having display problems. When running Windows, the start menu button, desktop icons and system tray icons look “snowy” (like on a tv) and there are lines across other screen elements.
I have tried multiple steps to solve the problem, but have not succeeded. I swapped out the graphics card, I have replace the RAM and I have replaced the hard drive. None of these have fixed the problem.
I have also tried adjusting the BIOS settings. My BIOS has 2 options: on board and auto. When I plug the monitor into the PCI graphics card, there is no display (no matter which BIOS setting I choose). If I plug the monitor into the on-board graphics card and select AUTO in the BIOS, there is no display. The only way it works is if the PCI graphics card is removed or if the PCI graphics card is removed, BIOS changed to on-board and the card plugged back in (monitor plugged into on-board card) When this is done, Windows will detect the new card but will not load a display from it.
Any suggestions?
