Dns request timed out, timeout was 2 seconds

By ian ·
Im in need of a bit of help,
were trying to set up a company server to host emails. we've worked through the basic set up of the server and all of the required settings before we attempt to installing exchange server 2007.

our basic set up is:
Static ip from bt 217.***.***.*** comes in to our netgear modem/router on

We then have that linked to our server and to the rest of the computers in the building.

our server name is mail."company" and we have a link from our domain name holder so that everything linked to mail."company" is redirected to us. our server is on &

The problem we are having is after setting up all the dns settings and active directory we can ping website names and it is returned to us with replys, when it comes to nslookup we get different results

server: mail."company"

> (first request)
server: mail."company"

DNS request timed out

or search <br>
as it sounds like you are using MS product.
Or reset timeout delay if connectivity is poor.
