DNS Resolution

By raj_soni36 ·
I m working in Win2000 envoinment where 28000 nodes connected to each other on a single domain.
Sometimes we have to enter the ip address with their name of our member server in the host file of pc's. If our dns server is there and all the PC's havng a DNS entry why we have to do this I mean why DNS not resolving the name of that server automatically.

Hello Raj,

I think that the problem lies in the client IP configuration.
Is the servers in subdomains?
If not, then they should be.
If so the suffixes for the subdomains must be added to each client for full connectivity.
Ex: servername.branch.sub.domain.com

Hope this helps
/Tom
