Do I have USB 1.1 or 2.0 ports?

How can you EASILY tell if your motherboard has USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 ports? (without the manual and without calling the mobo maker). A friend wants to buy a USB 2.0 DVD External Burner. Looking in Device Manager on a different computer that does have USB 2.0 ports says nothing to that effect and another computer that has 2.0 shows it under Universal Serial Bus Controller. I know i can add a USB 2.0 adapter but why do so if ports are already 2.0? How can i check easily?
