Do you have to use a specific hard drive for the Toshiba A105

I have had my Toshiba A105-s2231 For about a year now. Its been having issues ever since. I was reading everywhere to see how to fix it. And every site I went to, they said to just buy a new hard drive. And I was pricing them, and was just wondering, do I have to buy a toshiba hard drive in order for it to work on my system.
If anyone could help that would be great.

No, you do not need to buy a hard drive from Toshiba. Although, it might be easier to restore your system with a drive that already has the recovery partition on it.

As far as buying a drive, you need to verify it is the correct physical size and has the correct interface.

For your Toshiba, it looks like you need a SATA notebook drive that is 9.5 mm thick.

The next question, is do you have a set of CDs for your system?

If not, you either need to order disks from Toshiba, or work with a local repair shop to transfer at least the recovery partition onto your new hard drive.
