Is trust a two-way trust? Can you ping from both ends? Are the machines using same Wins on both sides? Are host/lmhost files current and are domain controllers loading into cache (#PRE #DOM)?

This was my solution to a similar problem once..maybe it will help you.
Check your network connection. Make sure there are link lights on the network card and the hub. Make sure you have a cable from the hub to the patch pannel.

The error you are getting indicates that you are not actually reaching the destination domain, or it's name is not being resolved. Check all network electronics (i.e. NIC, hub, cabling, etc.). Use basic TCP/IP commands to determine fault. Like tracert, ping, etc. Also, I agree with prior two answers.

If you can connect from the same machine with a different username, then it's a permissions issue. If you cannot connect from the machine no matter what, then start by checking all TCP/IP statistics (on both machines) - particularly Subnet Mask and Default Gateway. Then try PINGing the remote machine by \\name, then by IP - if you can ping by IP, but not name, it's a name resolution problem (WINS or DNS). Also try TRACERT to validate the above.

Hi!

If you are using separete WINS server for each domain, yhen you must establish replication of WINS-database between them.
In WINS manager on both servers you must to configure each server as push and pull partner for another one. Besides in TCP/IP protocol configuration on these servers you need to set primary WINS on itself and secondary WINS on its replication partner

Example :

WINS1-192.168.1.1
WINS2-192.168.2.1

on WINS 1
primary WINS 192.168.1.1
secondary WINS 192.168.2.1
on WINS 2
primary WINS 192.168.2.1
secondary WINS 192.168.1.1

Sorry for my pure english.
