Domains and Exchange

By gaudreaunf ·
I have a newly acquired network which has an exchange server in its domain. I need to move all users and exchange mail into another domain without an exchange server. Is it a laborsome task? Should I just stand up a new exchange server in the domain I am moving these folks to? I want to make this as smooth as possible but have limited knowledge of exchange. Im looking at this from a management prospective and need some background so that I can task my exchange administrators. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The best way to do this is to create a new exchange server in the new domain, then use the move server wizard to movew all users mailboxes to the new server see MS technet Q259840 for info on move server wizard.

good luck

I concur with gary.york as this is really the easiest and most reliable way to handle this change (done so myself dozens of times). Just make sure that the new Server JOINS the existing site. Good luck. BTW, I neither expect nor wish any points for this answer.
