Drivers after downgrade

By Qmo ·
hello

i recently had to downgrade my dell vostro 1540. it came pre installed with windows 7. this laptop was purchased specially to work with a piece of equipment. the problem arose when i realised that the equipments datalogger/application would not work on a windows 7 platform, only xp and older. i then proceeded to downgrade to windows xp not knowing that finding drivers for the OS on a dell vostro 1540 would be an absolute nightmare.

can someone kindly point me to where i can find network/ethernet controllers and wireless LAN driver for a dell vostro 1540 which was downgraded from windows 7 to XP. i have tried every driver i could find to no avail. i need more than just the ethernet controller but thats specifically what i need most in order to connect to our network, also because the equipment uses the ethernet port for interfacing with the computer.

the ethernet controllers device instance ID is:
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_05261028&REV_06\4&DBAB9B0&0&00E2

the network controllers device instance ID is:
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_00121028&REV_01\4&1D521a10&0&00E1

please help!!!

very desperate.

Honestly this is easier to do before you rip out the existing OS

Because the Dell Designations mean Absolutely Nothing at all I would suggest the Unknown Device identifier now but even that may be useless to you as it needs a working Network connection to correctly identify the hardware.

http://www.fileheap .com/software-unknown-device-identifier-download-34861.html
remember to remove the space from between fileheap and the .com for a working link.

The Network Device however is a Reattech and the link here to Reattech may be what you need

http://www.realtek .com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=4&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
remember to remove the space on this one as well because TR doesn't allow live links to be posted.

After you install the Reattech Driver you can use the Unknown Device Identifier to find out the Bluetooth and WiFi types that you have in this system and Google them from there.
