DSL upload problem

By herry ·
I just have DSL installed and the download works great. But on uploads, whenever I try to FTP a file to anywhere, the speed crawls to a halt and the transfer eventually aborts. Anyone have any idea why it would do this?

DSL service providers generally offer different upload and download speeds. Depending on the service that you purchased, you may have a high d/l speed, but very low u/l service. First bet would be to check with your service provider and see if youare coming and going at the same speed and if not, this may be your problem. Good luck! --bryan

Sounds like an FTP server problem to me. That may appear obvious, but it doesn't sound like a connectivity issue. Try contacting your ISP.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news - But I would like an engineer to look at it too...
I have the same problem as you - I initially connect to the ftp server - only to be disconnected...
DSL "Generally" have higher upload than DL speed - a least 272kbps - not the problem. I work with web development and so my first thought was the server - I had the opportunity to test this theory agains other servers - No luck.
I don't have a solution, but I'm nailing it down to som setting in the router - unfortunately - it would appear that nobody knows what this setting is, or how it should be set - this may be a question for CISCO support...

Conclusion:
I have not seen a solution to the problem, and the previously suggested solutions here - are not it.
I had a long talk with my ISP and they have agreed to let me use the dial in access as much as I want through a regular modem.

Sorry I cannot be of more help - I know how frustrating this problem is.
