Dual Boot

By lfeola ·
I have two seperate hard drives, one with NT4.0 workstation the other with Win95. I need to put them in the same PC and have it dual boot. I am aware that the boot.ini file will have to be modified but I need to know how to make the PC boot to either operating system. I would prefer to not use a utility software if possible.

Thank you

Dual Boot

When you install NT over an existing operating system, there's just an entry that's added to that initial NT bootup screen to boot into oine Os or another.

From what you descirbed though, I don't beleive there's any way to do this with two separate hard drives without using something like system commander.

I would think your best bet is to install NT over the 95 disk and then use the other disk as a data disk.

Good luck to you

There is only one way to do this without any kind of a utility package. That is to boot to floppy, run fdisk, and set whichever drive you want to boot to as the active partition.

Sorta Cheesy, but it works.
