Dual boot Win2k and Redhat 7.1 on SCSI H

By thaitrinh ·
Hi,

I've been trying to install Linux as a 2nd
OS on my Windows 2000 with no luck at all.
Currently Windows 2000 is on the IDE Drive,
and I want to install Linux on the SCSI
drive. However, during the Linux installation
packages, the machine either reboot or
freeze. I have also reformatted and
repartitioned my drive on numerous of times
and still cannot get it to work.
Please help. Does anyone have any ideas what
I need to do in order to solve this problem?

My computer spec: ASUS MB
AMD K-6 450
64 Meg MEM
15G MAXTOR HDD (runs Win2000 Prof)
9.1G Seagate Wide SCSI HDD (trying to run Linux)
Adaptec 2940W SCSI card

Thai

The AMI MegaRaid Elite 493 SCSI controller has the same type problems with RH 7.1. We had to install RH 7.0 and upgrade the kernel and any other packages we needed upgraded.

Also, I have had many problems dual booting with Windows 2000 / NT and linux. I have never tried from two drives but still if LILO is installed in the MBR then I am sure you will have problems. You will more than likely need to make a boot disk for Linux.

Good luck!

I use Boot Magic from powerquest to boot Win98, Win2000 and Linux on my notebook,
I also use VMWare to boot Win2000 form a windows within my Linux system (they even see each other on the network)

Have fun
