Dual boot XP

By bill.white ·
Can anyone tell me how I can install Windows ME unto my harddrive. I have some old software that wont run on XP even in ME compatibility mode.
I have a 2G partition waiting for the install.

It might be better to have two partitions or two hard disk for dual-boot.

You must first install the lower version of the OS, in your case Windows ME to one of the partition. Then you install Win XP and specify a new installation, new partition instead of upgrade.

After installation, it is best to maintain at least 2G free space for XP. as for Win ME, a 4-6G partition might be better.

Install ME then XP or use a bootmanager such as bootmagic (supplied with partition magic). I'd recommend creating a third partition or a second drive for your data. This will need to be FAT16/32 to be accessible from both OS as ME will not read fromNTFS.
