First of don’t post in all CAPS. It amounts to SHOUTING in Internet Parlance.
And regarding your problem take it to a repair person if it is the same problem as regarding your other post that of falling in water.

if the bios doesn’t detect it, then it might be time to replace it. however, you should open up the computer case and double check the connections. if the dvd is not connected to the motherboard, then the bios cannot detect it.

Test the dvd on another pc or laptop. If it isn’t working on the other devices the cable could be defective or worse the device itself is broken. In the best case you laptop isn’t giving it enough ppwer ot its usb is defective.
Take it to the shop together wit the laptop you are using it with.

      Check

In reply to DVD DRIVE IS NOT LISTED IN MY COMPUTER

Is this drive SATA or PATA? Either way, check the power to the drive. If there is no power to the drive, it won’t be recognized by the system.

May not be that drive that has the problem

Is this a desktop? If you have two drives on the same cable and either one has failed, it is quite possible that you won’t ‘see’ either. (Happened to husband just yesterday). But since you say the power light is off, sounds most likely the drive has died.

      DVD connections

In reply to DVD DRIVE IS NOT LISTED IN MY COMPUTER

Just to add check jumper settings if its the only dvd on your machine set it to master.Next check if the connections to the mother Board .Try another cable or slot?Make sure it is not competing with another device on the same sata/ide channel cable.? Power cable plugged into the device ?You could take off as many hardware devices on the channels to establish this? Check you have the most up to date firmware from motherboard site? If its an old DVD check for compatibility.
