What is the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R? I was told that DVD-R is the best way to burn, but I am ignorant to this so I want to know what is best so I don't end up with a bunch of coasters! I have a Sony DRX510ul burner and want to burn about 200 VHS tapes to DVD, and was also told that Ritek is the best media, although some are cheaper. Can someone detail this for me?
Thanks,
Dave

the only difference between DVD+ and - is that + offers greater DVD player compatibility.
Where a DVD- coded movie may play on 65% of todays DVD players, a DVD+ movie will play on 80% of todays players.

If you are wondering what format YOUR DVD player supports, contact the manufacturer or visit the website for compatibility charts. Older players may need DVD+ newer players will use + or - whereas some players will not recognize a DVDRW of any type.

Dave:
I capture a lot of vhs tapes to computer. At Shop4Tech.com,is the best site to order. I find
their media called Matrix DVD-R 4.7GB unit price
($.85) has worked well for me.I get good value
and presentable image quality on my DVD after burning.Their are better media's.But for home use,it works fine.
