Enhancing NT Terminal Server 4.0

By tim.oyelowo ·
I am using Windows NT 4 Terminal server across WAN, however i'm looking for a way to enhance the performance in order to improve the performance of some of my business and financial applications which run across WAN on this terminalserver. Citrix had been mentioned to me but I don't know how this will help, any idea about how it works?, Or you know any other product that could achieve the same thing with proven record ?

Citrix works well becuase it runs on a different Protocol then RDP that runs normally on Terminal Servers. Citrix runs on ICA which is optimized to run on slow links as slow as 19.2 Modems. Just be prepared to spend a pretty penny for Citrix. Butin my experience it is well worth the money. If you decide to use Citrix look into their free add on product of NFUSE which allows you to peresent the Apps and deliver the Web plugin from as a web based application.

Take some advice from a survivor of the black and blue brigade--don't let anyone stampede you into a deployment for Citrix until you have thoroughly tested your app in this environment, and deploy only the latest citrix product, particularly if you are planning on a load-balanced farm with more than two servers.
