Epson Printer w/ Dell Laptop Problems

By cwestfall89 ·
I have an old Dell Lattitude (90MHz 32M Ram) running win95. Lately, I been haveing trouble printing large files to my Epson 400. Is there some way I can tweak the spool or something so I am able to print large files? It will print and then lose connection with the printer, then print garbage or just half a page. I reinstalled Win95, as I thought it might need a fresh install, to clean old files.

If everything was working fine and then now, it's not.... then I'd suggest looking at the printer.

See if you can get the printer to work on another computer. If yes, then there's something wrong with the software drivers in this computer. If the printer does the same thing on another computer, then I'd recommend look at printer RAM possible being bad or going bad. Which may boil down to the logic board on your printer.

Yes there is a lot of stuff you can try with the printer. But first remove the printer and when it asks to remove all files conected with this printer answer yes. Then reinstall the drivers from cd or floppy and answer yes to print a test page. If this works then go to start, settings, printers and click on your printer to high light it.

Then go to properties, details and spool settings. From there you can try diffrent settings like print directly to printer, this will not save to hard drive. Or try raw print this will just print and not use the computer.
