Error code 4

By bugoo ·
When attempting to install a fresh copy of windows XP on my computer it gives me one of two error codes and forces a restart right after it asks if I want it to detect anything. The error codes it gives is either code 4 setupdd.exe not found, or error code 7. Also, i have tried 3 differant CDs so I know its not the CD. Any ideas?

I'm not sure where in the installation process you are when error is received. The only steps I recall in early setup that ask for input are F6 driver screen and license agreement.

Are you past partitioning and formatting hard disk?

Does error occur during or after file copy process?

Need to know what step (in terms I can identify) where error occurs during installation process.

Do you have a Silicon Graphics workstation by any chance? It seems these need a special install disc. Here is the link in case I am guessing correctly.
