error code 629

By mikegdow ·
I'm running Windows 98 on a Pentium 133, 64 MB ram. While trying to change ISP I received an error code 629 during dialup of new ISP. Ny original ISP connection still works. Can anyone identify this error code.

The new ISP dial up does not work, the old one does. As suggested by a friend, contacting the ISP would probably bring the solution.

DKlippert did answer my question of identifing the error code. Thanks for the assist.

629 You have been disconnected from the computer you dial. Double click the connection to try again.

or

The port was disconnected by the remote machine.

or

The link has been disconnected for one of the following reasons:

1) An unrecoverable phone line error.
2) A noisy line.
Disconnection by the system administrator.
A conflict in configuration parameters between the client and the remote computer.

Dialer settings might have been changed or modified or computer cannot recognise settings in dialer

soulrider, sorry, DKlipper was the firsy with the correct answer. But you are also correct and identified the error without a redirect to a site, which was educational.

For your timely and clear answer I also accepted your answer.

Thanks
