Excel formula

By hduff ·
I am trying to write an "if blank" formula in Excel

I have the following formula working -
=if(blank(D6),0,E5+D6)

this checks D6 and if blank, enters 0. If not blank, E5 is added to D6.

I need to check that D6 and C6 are both blank.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

=if(blank(D6) & blank (C6),0,E5 + D6)
I haven't tried this but I think it will work.

I could not get this formula to work.

When C6 and D6 are both blank, I want to enter a 0 in E6; if either C6 or D6 have a number, I want the following formula
E5-C6-D6 in cell E6. Then I want to format the column to NOT DISPLAY 0's after the last positive entry. This will suppress 0's for the remaining cells in the column that have not been used to date. If you have an e-mail, I could send you an example.

Thanks for your effort.

=if((blank(C6) AND blank(D6)),0,E5+D6)

??? or do you mean:

=if(blank(C6),0,E5+C6)

=if(blank(D6),0,E5+D6)

You need the AND() function to check multiple conditions in an IF(). Try this:

=IF(AND(ISBLANK(C6),ISBLANK(D6)),0,E5+D6)

Are you trying do do a check book register type function? It looks like you are trying to accumulate values from 'C" & "D" columns into the third 'E' column. It would help to know a bit more about your project.
