Not sure what you're asking here....

Pretty much copy and paste.

If this is a question about duplicates, then perhaps the AbleBits 'Duplicate Remover for Excel' add-in is what you need.

put the data in a file

Use Notepad and paste the data into a file.
When you save the file, name it with an extension of .TXT - which is the default for Notepad. (like MYDATA.TXT)

Then on the Ribbon use "Data - Import Text". When prompted, the text is "Delimited", click "Next", and check "Comma" in the list. (If you copied the line numbers and want them to import properly too, also check the "Other" check box and put a period (.) in the text box next to Other:.

Then click "Finish" and "OK" (assuming you had the cursor in the top-left corner of the place you wanted the data to be put.)

Happy Homework. It's Friday and I'm feeling generous.

I do this all the time. Comma Delimited Text is your friend.

If you have eight or eighteen records, you sit in front of your computer and type.

If you have 18,000 records, IN MACHINE READABLE FORM, you write a program
to translate to a format readable by the spread sheet.

You didn't say which spreadsheet you are using. Without that information, it's going to be difficult for anyone to give you detailed instructions!

If you care to tell us what software you are using, NAME AND VERSION, we may be
able to give you more explicit directions.
