Exchange 2003

By CGriffith318 ·
Does anybody know of any good documentation on the setup and configuration of a MS Exchange Server?

Also, does anyone know anything about how to migrate MS Mail over to Exchange 2003?

Thanks

Here is something to start

by Fvazquez In reply to Exchange 2003

You can go:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/2003/library/default.mspx

and also http://www.exchangeserver.org

Remove any space if necesarly..

Also i think there is no road map for migrating from MS mail to exchange 2003, all the documents i had read always goes from 5.5 or 2000 to 2003.

Hope helps and questions drop me a email.

baby steps

I think it will depend on whether you'll need to save data. I have done several moves to 55 and the best way I've found is to actually have a stop of msmail and then a start of exchange without importing of data at the system level. I have the clients export the data they want to save and then import into exchange after startup. Address books are the most important, not necessarily the data.

Question..

So you suggest backing up their data to a pst and then once Exchange is up and running have each of them import the data from the pst into their Outlook Today folder?

Do you know of any other way? We have like 70 users and most them are not knowledgable enough to figure out how to import data from a pst into Outlook.

Thanks for all your help!

you can do it yourself

by nick In reply to Question..

I used a utility a year or so ago that let me pull everyone's inbox into a pst at a server. I then recreated the exchange server. The utility let me select who's pst to restore to who's inbox. It took time... but it worked.

also, you might want to check your space out. The pst's are going to be large... and you'll need some space. If going from PC to server, fast link... etc..

I've forgotten the app, but start here:
