Exchange 5.5 will NOT reclaim space

By traciw1998 ·
I have users that are exceeding their IS disk space allocation. When I try to clean up their box (delete items), the size never changes. I have cleaned out the recover-deleted item, sent items, turn off journaling and run an offline defrag. Nothing changes. I have had to set them to unlimited. Any Suggestions?

After you have made all these manual changes in Exchange 5.5, have you tried running the Optimization Wizard in the Exchange Program group afterwards?

I tried this last weekend and nothing changed. Maybe I did something wrong, I accepted all the defaults and didn't try to move the db's.

Are you talking about personal folders on the network? If yes, after deleting items, users should "compact" their personal folders.

You have to run the optimizer. Just removing the files won't reclaim space.
