Exchange backup.

By TobeJ ·
What is the software backup choice for exchnage? We are currently using Windows 2000 in our sites and Arcserve as the software to backup SQL etc. So what is used for Exchange server? Is there a special software that is used for it "Open file backup" or something?

Any info would be a help.

Tx

Toby

as you cant backup exchange while it is running, and as exchange is running all the time the only program i have come across is "VERITAS: Backup Exec" this can also be used to backup the SQL to my knowledge, but only downside of this is the price of the license to run the program but if you can use this instead of the other program to backup your SQL you may save money there. go to

www.veritas.com

hope that helped

All the major vendors of backup software (e.g. Veritas Backup Exec and Computer Associates ARCserve) have agents you can purchase to backup things like open files, SQL, Exchange, etc. They are not part of the backup product but additional features you can purchase. Either product will work but you can't use one vendor's backup software with another's agent...they have to be the same. If you currently use a backup product, see if they have an agent you can purchase. That way, you won't have to purchase all new.

Good Luck,
Sean
