Exchange logs?

By Osmond.Louey ·
I am running Exchange 5.5 would like to ask. I have a whole lot of files under my excsvr\imcdata\tempIMS\in and out directory that seem to be years old. They are taking up aolot of h/disk space and want to know whether they can be deleted.

Exchange logs?

by jb007 In reply to Exchange logs?

When message archival is enabled on the Internet Mail Connector, copies of all Internet mail messages are written as files to the Exchange directories:

..\Imcdata\In\Archive and
..\Imcdata\Out\Archive

These files will not be removed by any Exchange service and will gradually consume disk space if not managed.

Disable archiving if you don't require this functionality.

I have no recollection of any application that creates these directors and suggest that someone may have created them in the past when dealing with an earlier IMS problem.

hope this helps,

regards,

jb.

My earlier suggestion that IMC work had been done was correct. Mohammed has identified the exact technet article in the comment after mine.

Delete away and get yourself that extra space.

jb.
