Exchange MTA

By MsPurple ·
I am having a real problem with allowing my users to send e-mail to the outside. They are able to recieve e-mail but not send it. I have looked through TechNet and it only referrs to the latest service pak which I have loaded. Still it does not recognize any e-mail address that a message is sent out to.
Can someone please offer any possible solutions?

What response are you getting when trying to send externally?
Is your IMS configured to use DNS or a SMTP relay host? If you have it configured to use DNS for mail delivery, maybe you should ask your ISP if they have an SMTP relay you can use. This will relieve your Exchange Server from having to deliver internet mail, and you simply "pass it on" to your ISP.

Greetings,

I would think that it's related to an Open Frame Relay issue. Some ISPs are refusing email sent from Open Relay Servers to help in cutting down on spam. Check with your ISP and ask if this is indeed the case.
