First steps

by Largo_Dave In reply to exchange server is unavai ...

First of all are you upgrading or is this a completely NEW setup and install? Second you should have already ran Forrest prep and Domain Prep before anything else before installing exchange completely for your schema. Is it connecting to your Active Directory? Is your DNS correctly configured? There is SO much that needs to be done before throwing the switch.

I Got the same problem

by fflores In reply to microsoft exchange server ...

Hello.
I am seting up an used laptop that was previously set up with an account for the same exchange server. The suer is no longer in the company so the laptop was given to me to be reconfigured.
The settings in the laptop seems to be already cleared.
Now that I am trying to set up the same settings from another lap top, I keep getting the same error. "The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

Please help!!!

Try this

by Nas10 In reply to microsoft exchange server ...

We have encountered the same issue with Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2003. The client didn't communicate with the GC correctly for some reason. No problem at all with the systems running Outlook 2002.
This KB article solved it.

DNS address solved it for me too

by reparent In reply to just point ur dns to your ...

I had the same problem, even though I had my settings set to DHCP both for IP and DNS, I manually added the DNS IP to my NIC and was then able to resolve the name and set the exchange account.. I don't understand why it worked but it did.

I tryied anything

I don't know how to set up. I uninstalled outlook 2007 for this, and reinstalled outlook 2003 and still the same response.

I don't know what dns field i have to set up? The one from the client side or on the server side?

P.S.: The dns server points himself, so it works(on the server)
Everything is allright, like the guy that opened the topic.

When i'm in the LAN, the server successfully connects to exchange, but when i leave the network i cannot connect. I installed VPN server, but it was blocking DNS server, so i had to uninstall VPN and disable routing group created. After that dns worked again

So what it is left to do?
