Exchange server using Dial-up connection

By pc-tech ·
I do a lot of work for a large company. They have a few people who travel with their notebooks and use them to access their mail on an exchange server. While on the network at their main office, they can acess it without any problems. When they try to access it using dial-up networking it does not find the server. After numerous attempts to make it work, I got it going, however they must click cancel at the windows logon screen for the dial-up connection to work. I had assumed that this would be satisfactory, however, it is not, I have been asked to fix this issue so that they can access the exchange server through a dial-up connection even when the windows logon password is typed in.
Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions?

Exchange server using Dial-up connection

Are they dialing directly into the server? If so, what did you do to "get it going"? I am assuming that you logged in as the default user to work your magic. That would explain why the fix works if the user doesn't log in using their profile, butthat of the default user. If that is the case, just log in under your users' profiles and do the same thing. Hope you find this helpful.

I loged in as the user who wil be using the computer.
Their dial-up connection is through a local ISP, not directly to the server. It is not just the ISP either, I tried a number of them. I can't even ping the exchange server, using it's IPaddress, through a dial-up connection unless I click cancel at the windows logon screen.
