Extending a wireless network

By drewdowling ·
I need to extend my wireless network to cover another office. I have a spare wireless router and was wondering if I can use this to connect to the existing router and use it as a wireless extension point (is this the correct term?). If not what piece of equipment do I have to buy?

depends on the router model. what you want, i am guessing, is to set up a wireless bridge. your new office will be on another network segmeent, bridged to yours (transparent to you). give us part number or visit how to section at www.linksys.com

You need a bridge like the NetGear WGE101. You would connect it to a hub/switch in the new office and it would talk wireless back to the access point. The WGE101 supports 802.11g and WEP.
