Fatal exception

By vtp ·
The Computer is: AMD K5 MMX, 128 MB Ram, Savage 4 Engineering BitFlip video card 16 MB Memory.
My Problem: When I run certain games, Media Player or RealPlayer I get a blue screen that says, Fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C29AD5A3 in VXM PCIMP (01) + 00001CA3. The current app will terminate. When I hit any key, sometimes it returns me to my desktop and everything seems to be ok and other times the screen is black or just squiggly lines. I think I am having a problem with my video card but I am not sure. Any thoughts out there. I appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

I believe certain code in realplayer make it impossible to co-exist with win98. Based on my experience the only way you can fix that is by running realplayer alone, close any other programs.

Savage3 video cards have been a problem running certain games because the drivers are incompatible or nee updating. There has been problems noted with MediaPlayer version 7,on the other hand if the screen is going black you are expierencing a video card problem that is not driver related, but a chip problem on the video board, contact the manufacturer of the board to get info,it is definetly going bad.

Reseat video card in slot to ensure good connection on motherboard. If problem persists, check BIOS and make sure that "VGA Palette Snooping" is disabled. If problem still persists, check BIOS and make sure that "Use IRQ for Video" is enabled. Also, in BIOS, if video is AGP (which it sounds like), set AGP memory limit to 64MB.
