File Permissions on Windows XP

By iddy ·
I am running windows xp professional in a Netware environment. I wish to set some file security permissions on the local machine however when I right-click on the folder which I wish to change permissions on there is no security tab?

I had a lookon microsofts site and it said something about not being able to access this tab unless you are connected to a domain. Is this true and if so is there any way to get around this.

This is crazy, whats the point in using NTFS is you can't change permissions!!!

File Permissions on Windows XP

Windows XP has what is called simple file sharing enabled by default. It can be disabled by going to Windows explorer. From there choose Tools, Folder Options and click on the view tab. Scroll to the bottom of the list and you will see a checkboxfor use simple file sharing. uncheck the box and hit okay. Now the sharing and security tabs will be there. Must have XP pro for this which you stated you did.
