File size, spooler...

By lora_burgess ·
Greetings,

I'm looking for suggestions of how to find out the file size of (ie: Word document for instance) going to a print server, then the size to compare from that same server to the actual printer. Will it change? How much? Any suggestions on how to measure this would be helpful. This is just straightforward TCP/IP not bothering with Jetdirect, etc... (Windows 2000)

When you spool any job to printer, you can open printer icon (ether on task bar or click to printer icon in Start menu). It will show size of spooled document. In some condition it will now show it and you should check it on your Print Server. Another way allows you to do some "lab" offline - change printing destination to "File" and see size of this file after printing completed. I will be exactly the same information which goes to actual printer.

Good luck.
