    Filter at Exchange?

    Locked

Is it possible to filter e-mail at the Server level? We have been receiving a lot of “Snowhite and the Seven Dwarfs – The REAL story!” lately. I would like to filter for it at the server rather than touching each workstation. If this is possible, how can it be done.

There is not a way to do this with Exchange Server. There are 3rd Party products that will provide this functionality. Sybari who makes Anitigen, Trend Micro who makes ScanMail both offer Exchange based virus scanners (they also allow filtering based on the attachment’s name or extension). There are several other companies who make virus scanners for Exchange.

We use NAI TVD on our exchange 5.5 server. In the past 18 months of usage – we have not had any attacks that the software has not detected and locked out so that a user can not open the message.
