Looks like you are waiting until the last minute to take care of some expensive things. I recommend that you head off to Norton's web site. I believe thay have a download that checks your bios for you. I know that you can run to your local PC store and buy it, but I have a sneaken suspition that it is free on the net.

This shouldn't be the only thing that you check though, there are a number of software programs that you might want to check also.

good luck

If it was manufactured in 96, it should be. Check your bootup screen to see what bios you have.

Find the manufacture on the web, they will have instructions to help you find out more about your bios.

At www.unicore.com you will find the phenix, Award AMI and 1 or 2 more, they now own these and can provide you with the info you need and or a upgrade.

To check your software go to the manufactures web page, Microsoft has a program that you can use to check all of there products with. If you don't do any critical data anaylizing that pertains to dates, then software is not a big issue.

When you computer boots up, the bios version and code is displayed usually in the bottom of your screen. You can wreite this down and then go to the bios manufacturer and look up this code. This might tell you what you want to know. Also, mosy systems built after the 92-94 time frame should be compliant.

There are several different Y2K programs that you can download that when booted from a diskette will check your bios and real time clock, and actually simulate year end rollovers and leap year rollovers for the next 5 to 10 years. You can go to WWW.Y2K.com and be able to get a free download there.
