Hi,

Are you tring to install anything which is causing you to have to click "Browse" prior to the floppy drive seek?

That's "browse" to locate drivers/files etc, by the way.

Check whether you have Microsoft Fast Find in your Startup group/folder, this is certainly an issue on other MS OS's

Have you tried to remove the recent opened documents from START-DOCUMENTS or dump all your temp files? HTH

Hi,

What happens if there is a disk in the drive? If it comes back saying it can't find "xxx" when reading a disk that may indicate the nature of the problem (ie something is trying to install, check the floppy,).

Do you have a virus scanner and if so did you update some definitions via floppy? It may be checking their for new virus definition files.

Did you recently install anything and, more importantly, check the floppy cabling after you messed about with the IDE controllers and devices re: your Printer/Mouse lockup problem (I'm guessing it's the same machine, anyways).
