Triple check the floppy drive cable.

1. The floppy cable at the drive is usually the opposite of the hard drive cable.
Pin 1 is toward the center of the drive.

2. For the A: drive, the twist in the cable needs to be between the drive and the motherboard.

1. Try looking at your CMOS setup. Arrange the boot sequence start at a:, c:, cd or anyother bootable device. make sure you save and exit from the CMOS.

2. Some of the ribbon cable for the floppy drives have a notch that will indicate the correct position to the drive pins. Some don't. If yours don't have it, try swapping the cable the other way.

First check your Bios to make sure that your system recognizes your floppy drive (boot order). Next check your connections for your floppy drive, make sure they're tight and properly connected (red line towards power plug for device usually). If theproblems still persists, then try a new cable. If all this fails, you'll need a new floppy drive.
