Folder Shares

By jmessina ·
I am trying to transfer a detailed folder tree with specific rights and shares. I need to keep the NT shares while moving this tree to another system. I believe ghosting will not work properly with NT shares.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff Messina

If you have the Resource Kit, you can use the SCOPY.EXE command to move files and folders. They will retain permissions as long as you are moving them from one NTFS partiton to another. It will not work on FAT or HPFS partitions.

Another method is to use third-party backup software. Most will allow you to backup a directory structure and restore it to another location while keeping permissions.
