Forcing Modem to Dial

By simon ·
Would anyone know how to force a modem to dial a number, just by receiving a high DTR? I know it is posible with expensive SYNC only Modems, is there a cheaper alternative?

To force a modem to dial, add X1 to the command string. X1 gives the command to "Dial Unconditionally" whether it hears a dialtone or not.

Insert the X? string into the modem set-up string, normally the X? command is added before ^M at the end of the string.

X1 Ignore dialtone and busy tone
X2 Ignore busy tone
X3 Inner dialtone
X4 Modem recognises dialtone and busy tone

X3 andX1 set the modem for Blind Dialing. This option is country specific, because some countries do not allow blind dialing.
