Have not had the need to use it, but I understand pcbeginner.com has a download available to crack either the current passwords, or provide you the chance to create one on bootup.

      Hi

If you want to format the PC it will wipe the entire partition. I assume you have just one partition on the drive, so you will be erasing the Windows installation.

If this is the case, you do not need to log into Windows to do this, you can just boot from the installation disk and format the partition as part of the installation process.

      Good luck

If your reformating you do not need the password as you will not access windows in the format/install phases. If you really do need to get into the windows install, use NTPASSDISK, and blank the password, not change it.

I’m assuming that you can not get into BIOS to reset the password here.

Now if you don’t have an IBM Think Pad you can either unplug the system and remove the CMOS Battery or change a jumper to clear the BIOS. This will remove the BIOS Password that is prevent you starting the Boot Sequence.

However if you have an IBM Think Pad there is nothing that you can do as the password is stored on a Powered IC on the M’Board that can not be erased short of replacing the M’Board.

All the responses you have received thus far a very good, however I have one question. What OS is the system running? If you want to logon before you reinstall the OS you can boot the system in safe mode and logon with the local admin account (given the account is not password protected)create an account and assign it admins rights then reboot in normal mode.

You can use it to boot up any computer; fix and install Windows; optimize and speed up your system; clean up history and protect your privacy; recover data and passwords; partition and format the hard drive; clone and backup your system; and more…
