Frame Relay

By kashmeir63 ·
Hi,
I have a windows 2000 Server in one state and a windows nt4.0 server in another. The windows nt 4.0 server is the headquarters.. I would like to create a better but cost effective connection(wan) between the two..Right now we have a DSL connection. I was looking into a frame relay connection(pvc, svc).Does anyone have any thoughts
on this connection or is there a better way to go. Any help would be appreciated.

Frame Relay

Frame relay will work. As an added cost incentive, you might consider a a voice over frame relay solution if commercial long distance costs are excessive and the calling profile shows a lot of long calls between the sites.

You will need to price the installation of the demarc at each end and the monthly costs associated with the CIR and circuit monthly fees.

Further, you might consider a single point of access for your Internet connectivity and transport Internet access across the frame relay and firewall the whole thing at the main site. This will result in greater use of the frame between the sites, but drop costs of Internat access at two sites. The security value goes without saying.
