Free easy to install and setup VPN

Hi,
Currently the best and the robust solution available in Linux is FreeS/wan (www.freeswan.org). FreeS/wan is a linux implementation for VPN which uses IPsec. The configuration is pretty easy for Road warriors. However you will need to go through the well written documentation for its implementation. You will also need to recompile your Linux Kernel to install Freeswan. This step too is clearly outlined in the manual. The download and the manuals are all found on the website. The latest version of freeswan as I know is 1.94.

But this will work only if your client computers are Win 2000/Linux, as I dont know if there are any IPsec client softwares for Win9x/NT. Hope this information helps you.

PS: http://jixen.tripod.com/ might help you too. It lists the config examples and the steps listed to configure Win 2K to work with FreeS/wan.

Another easy one to set up is PoPTop for Linux. http://poptop.lineo.com/ this works well with W2K and uses GRE protocol. Works with Windows 95/98/NT PPTP clients.
