Free upgrade from Vista to Windows 7?

By fevensen ·
There seems to be wide consensus that Windows Vista has been quite a failure. I have also read a lot of reports presenting Windows 7 as "Vista 2.0" or "Vista done right".

I have Vista. It works ok. But from all that I've read it sounds as if I would get more performance out of my computer be switching to Windows 7. So - does anyone know if Microsoft intends to offer us poor Vist-owners a discounted (or even free!) upgrade to Windows 7?

It will probably depend on when you purchased it....

Usually, if any upgrade at all is offered, free or not, it will depend on when you purchased your current system. In the past, that offer has been extended to people who purchased the older system within a month or two of the official release of the newer system. Since Windows 7 hasn't been officially released yet and isn't expected to be for quite a while, chances are you're going to be out of luck.
